The Chapter I Finally Closed

There are some chapters of our lives that we never fully understand while we are living them. We hold on because we loved, we trusted, and we believed the best in someone. I was no different. For years, I valued a friendship deeply. I defended it, protected it, and overlooked things I probably should have paid closer attention to. But sometimes life has a way of revealing what we cannot see for ourselves. There came a point when I had to accept that something I once treasured was no longer healthy for me. It hurt. I questioned myself. I replayed moments and wondered what I could have done differently. But eventually, I stopped looking backward. One of the greatest lessons I learned was to listen to the people who love me most, especially my children. Through everything life has brought me, one thing has always remained certain: my children have never been second to anyone. I have made difficult decisions, crossed oceans, started over, and faced more than most people will ever know because being there for my children has always mattered more to me than anything else. I fought like a lion because that is what a mother does. Looking back now, I realize that some painful endings are actually redirections. What once felt like a loss ultimately brought me closer to my daughter and reminded me of what truly matters. I don't need revenge. I don't need explanations. I don't need anyone else to understand what happened. I simply needed to understand it for myself. And I finally do. I learned that protecting my peace sometimes means walking away. That forgiveness doesn't require reconciliation. That letting go doesn't mean what happened didn't matter. It means I matter too. Today, my life is quieter. My circle is smaller. My heart is lighter. And honestly, my coffee tastes better when I'm not carrying unnecessary drama with it. 😂 I am grateful for the woman I became through every chapter, even the painful ones. Some people are meant to walk beside us for a lifetime. Others are meant to teach us something before we continue on without them. This chapter taught me a lot. But it is closed now. And I'm not looking back. I'm choosing peace. I'm choosing happiness. I'm choosing the people who love me honestly, respect my boundaries, and celebrate the woman I've become. Most importantly, I'm choosing myself. And that feels pretty damn good.
