Sad days for United Arab Emirates

mood: sad
craving: ----

Salam Alikom (Peace be with you)  to all my Muslim readers and hello to all my non-muslim readers....

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'oon ( To God we belong and to him we will return)
^ Muslims say this when someone passes away.

"Everyone is going to taste death, and We shall make a trial of you with evil and with good. And to Us you will be returned." (Quran - 21:35)

We all go though life wondering what our purpose is; at least I did when I was younger, until I found Islam. When I found Islam, my life changed and the way I looked at life changed in such a big way that I look back on it now and wonder how I lived without this blessed religion.

"Then We raised you up after your death: Ye had the chance to be grateful."(Quran - 2:56)

When my mother passed away I prayed that God accepted her and forgive her sins. So, I had faith back when I wasn't Muslim, but it still wasn't enough. It seemed after the passing of my mom, I was more aware of death. I was scared and wanted to really find out what was the purpose of life. I searched and searched. Studied and searched more. When I found what I was looking for,  (Islam) I was astonished how I could be so ignorant. Islam is easy, people make it hard. Islam is perfect, people aren't.  Rewind a bit, mom passed on and a couple years later, one of my good friends passed on in a major car accident. It seemed like death kept creeping up on the people I loved. It was really scary. One year after my friend Denise passed away, another friend had a bad car accident. After that it seemed every year or two, a friend of mine was dying. I found Islam a couple years after that. Thank you God, Islam gave me the insight on what I was so afraid of. Death.

"Every soul shall have a taste of death: And only on the Day of Judgment shall you be paid your full recompense. Only he who is saved far from the Fire and admitted to the Garden will have attained the object (of Life): For the life of this world is but goods and chattels of deception. "(Quran - 3:168)

Death is scary, because it's unknown how you're going to die. As Muslims we are afraid of not doing everything that God has told us.  God's willing we will make it to Heaven if we do what we were commanded to do.

"To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: It is He Who gives Life and death; and He has Power over all things."(Quran - 57:2)

In 2004 a great man passed away, Sheikh Zayed. May God forgive him and accept his good deeds ameen. It was a great loss to the people of United Arab Emirates. Not only did the local Emiratis love and adore this man, but many foreigners who knew him, loved him.  Then the son of Sheikh Zayed, Sheikh Nasser bin Zayed passed away on June 3rd, 2008 when his helicopter crashed over the gulf waters. May Allah forgive his sins and accept his good deeds ameen.

Now one of Sheikh Zayed's ( God have mercy on his soul ) sons, Sheik Ahmed bin Zayed al-Nahyan,   died. His glider crashed in a lake in Morocco. May God have mercy on his soul and forgive him for his sins ameen.  1969 - 2010

"And certainly  We! We it is Who give life, and cause death, and We are the inheritors." (Quran - 15:23)

The only thing is this life we can't escape is death. Every one of us who is reading my entry, will die someday. We just don't know when or how. I think that's the scary part.

I ask God to forgive us and increase our iman ( faith ) and only love each other for the sake of Allah ( God ) and do everything in this life, only for Allah ( God ).

Please pray for our brother in Islam and pray for his family. Pray for all our brothers and sisters who have passed away and for all the families who lost loved ones.

"And Allah (God) has created you and then He will cause you to die; and of you there are some who are sent back to senility, so that they know nothing after having known )much). Truly, Allah (God) is All - Knowing, Alla-Powerful."(Quran - 16:70)

final whisper: May Allah (God) forgive our brother and have mercy on him, give him jannah (heaven) , give his family patience and iman (faith) ameen

The concept of death is strange and not scary at all to me at least.
If we just had this whole idea with us all the time, that we are going to die anytime anywhere, maybe things will be a bit easier.

I remember the death of my grandparents almost 7 years ago- they died 10 months apart-and how they were sick for a long time lying on bed at a certain place and while everyone thought they were going to die at that place, a smiple thing happened that let them moved to where Allah destined them to die.
Did we ever thought of this?
That it's not going to be only happening but it will happen at an exact time and exact place.
May Allah forgive us .
Death will happen one way or the other. What i hate about it is the feeling of "missing" someone.

Salaam Sis - I saw this news earlier on Al-Jazeera. Truly sad and I actually thought of you and Sis Twizzle.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with death. Yes, it is scary. When I was younger, I used to wonder what it would be like to die - to experience something we all have to experience, yet we can't hear about it from someone else, or we can't come back and tell others, etc.
Then, when my Nana (maternal grandfather) passed away at a ripe old age, and I heard the Imam at the grave site give a small speech, that we should be happy for him, that he has returned to his Creator, that we should pray for him, I began to feel more comforted. Of course, as you said, we feel bad, as we have not done everything properly as Allah (swt) has told us to do and we fear what will become of us in the Hereafter. Soon after, I lost two uncles in other parts of the world, a young cousin-sister in a car accident, then an uncle at home, then just 10 days later, my own father. Several more deaths in the family have followed.
By this time, I had become more aware of death, its significance and how we should face it, prepare for it. I think that with each death, as you indicated, it keeps reminding you, that "hey, you are going to end up this way one day too" as the ayahs you shared state.
Yet, it's still difficult when it comes to ourselves I think. Yes, we still have our breath and we can still correct ourselves, yet with each day that passes, our fixed term comes closer to it's end.

Jazak'Allahu Khairan for a great reminder dear Sister.

I hope that the brother's family will be given Sabr in this difficult time and all of you who are saddened will also recover soon. You've used it as a reminder, which is always good, so that' sone positive thing that has come out of it and of course, you have passed it on to all of us, your readers, so in that there is much blessing as well.

Ma'salaam
Br. MF
PS I see you changed the greeting. :-) It's ok, you can go back to the old one if you want. I've been mistaken for a girl online many times :-P

A'salaamu alaikum sister. Your post is a good reminder to us all that death will surely come one day. We should be diligent in preparing for it.

It reminds me of those t-shirts and bumper stickers that read: "Life is not a dress rehearsal." Really it is; this is our performance before the curtain call, our one chance at working out all the kinks before the big show: the akhira.

May Allah grant us jannah and forgive our sins, increase our iman and help us through the hardships of this life amin!

Ma salaama....

Asalaamu alaikum.

I don't know much about the Sheiks but it is a sad thing to lose people of the world, but as the sister above said, we all return to our Creator one day and therefore we should be happy. Ameen to all the du'a's and may Allah have mercy on them all. Ameen.

Malik Al Mawt is, for all things, the perfect soldier. When God deems it a soul's time, he has not missed his mark since the dawn of creation.

In the end, a person's only solace is that if that person is worthy, his soul will be taken gently, in a way befitting his or her life. If not, then it will be taken by force.

We do not have a choice in when, how, or why we die. We can only control how Malik Al Mawt takes our souls.

This has been an eye opener to many as Sh. Ahmed was by all accounts young, I mean he has a one year old girl and 2 year old boy! (Among others) and he was only 41.

Like I said, all we can control when God's perfect soldier comes is that we have done good enough to have our souls taken calmly.

Inshallah, I wish that on everyone.

Today we went and prayed Janaza on Sh. Ahmed's corpse. It was a privilege as he has done so much for the UAE, Abu Dhabi, and my family on a personal note. And maybe I was selfish, wanting the honor of janaza, which is good deeds the size of 2 mountains according to tradition.

Well over 10,000 people showed up Mashallah. When I exclaimed, a man who worked closely with Sh. Ahmed said this is what happens when you are a good person, people remember you as suck.

I pointed out that none of this, not the TV, not the busses full of people, none of this happened for Sh. Nasser. And he said to me "Again, you get at your funeral what you did in life, do you think Sh. Eissa will get 1% of this?"

So again, we can only control our actions. And they are what people will remember, and they are what will lead people to remember you, and they are what will allow your soul to be taken gently.

as-salaam aleikum wa rahmatullah,

MashaAllah what an excellent post. I was also going ot make a post about this and also talk about my grandmother's death but I couldn't do it. I am not ready to be able to do it.

Inshallah we can all be those who strive to be better Muslims and inspire others to want to be better Muslims as well.

That is very sad indeed! Allah bless his soul and forgives his sins and grant his family and beloveds patience.

You know, when my grandmother passed away a few years ago, I was devastated and I just could not handle the loss. The night she passed away, I spent the whole night lying next to my mom and listening to her heart beat just to make sure she was alive and breathing. I was afraid I would lose her just about any minute! It felt crazy but I eventually got over it. I had scary dreams about grandma for nights and that freaked me out. I am happy to be a Muslim who understands that death will eventually come for us all. It is part of life and without it life does not exist. Acceptance and faith are all we need in order not to fear it.

((Hugs sweetie))
